Jeffrey's new puppy

Thank you Aunt Shelly..he loves it!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! We had a nice easy going day. Linda and Russ came over and we had a great time and dinner. Now it's time to rest!

I hope everyone had a great day and reflected on the wonderful gift the birth of our Lord and Savior was. It is through God's gift of his son that we each have the opportunity to have eternal life. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. I am ever so thankful for that! God Bless.

New Baby

12/23/08

I have been just dying to post this blog! On Monday morning (12/15) Cassie called crying saying she was pregnant! Crying because they were not trying or planning this. I was Ecstatic as were the kids! Once I got the kids to school and Cassie calmed down we were chatting when RW called her from work. She was scared to tell him....becuase she was still in shock! His first response was, "AWESOME"!

So the planning started! Since RW will be deploying this summer Cassie will be coming home to have Baby Roley. I am sad that RW won't be able to be there for the delivery but such is Army life. A life we all know to well. I am thankful that Cassie will be here and we can look after her and the baby for RW until he returns home safely.

This post will be dated funny because I am not allowed to put it on the Internet until after Christmas as the kids are telling RW's family then! I am so excited about being a Grandma! I got to see the baby's first picture today. Looking forward to many more. Oh we have a due date of 8/19/09!

Time for bed~

Thought I would post these pictures really quick. No sugar plums dancing in Jeffrey's little head he is out! He got tired of waiting for me to finish rolling Grace's hair. Miss Grace however made sure she left some good treats for Santa...one being Shauna's so yummy peanut butter cups! Now off to bed.. the kids will be up before I know it!

Merry Christmas Eve

Well, we have had a fun and busy day today. I was able to complete my shopping and take some pictures of the kids before we headed to church for Christmas Eve services. I loved tonight! The service was wonderful and I just love seeing everyone! The kids that are home for break and those that come this way for the holiday's it was wonderful to see you all! Here is a picture of Grace and Jeffrey that I shot before church tonight. Merry Christmas!

Four Years

Four years ago today my best friend and husband went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Today as every year is bitter sweet. I didn't want Jeff to suffer anymore with the cancer and yet I wanted him here with me and the kids. There is something about getting passed this day though. I guess it is remembering the day we had to let go. I rejoice that Jeff knew the Lord, I am so thankful for that. I am just lonely for my best friend and sad that with each passing year Grace remembers less and Jeffrey..well, his only memories are the ones we tell him.

To Jeff..thank you for the memories, our three beautiful children and your unfailing love for us. I can't wait to see you again my love!

Blessings Abound!

Today as I was rushing to get out the door I received a phone call from Les Schwab Tires. The nice lady on the other end of the phone said that tires had been purchased for me and I needed to come down and have them put on my Expedition. Of course my response was.."What"? and "Who has done this"? She kindly told me that they did not want to be known. She then followed with quietly and very seriously asking me if I had a stalker? I told her if I did it was news to me! I then said to her,"Isn't God good"? She did not know how to respond to that. This was becoming not only a blessing for me, the persons that gave this wonderful gift but also to the fine folk's at Les Schwab! Many of us have often said that the Lord works in mysterious ways. I am ever thankful for that.

So to whom ever was so gracious to put new tires on my car. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! It was an incredible surprise and a great Christmas gift! May God richly bless you and yours!

Blessed

I have just put Grace and Jeffrey into bed. I am tired but feel so full of blessings right now. I just had to write about it! I was fortunate enough to have the Vaughan Four today. We had a very full and fun day. I never seem to have enough time with them for all I always plan to do.

We have been very blessed by our dear friends the Vaughan's. I still think the Lord sent them to our little area just for us. Many I know feel the same way. This family came into our lives on the first day of kindergarten and it wasn't long after that Grace and Ashton became best friends and Jeffrey and Dawson have been buddies since they were just babies.

They have seen us through the last months of Jeff's cancer. They were there to get Grace to and from Awana and school when I couldn't go anymore. Justin taking the time to come in and talk to Jeff when he wasn't right in his mind and the heart felt prayers he would say while praying with Jeff are special memories for me. Shauna's encouragement to me after Jeff's passing, The time that Shauna and Justin spent with Cassie, I could never thank them enough for. For being a second set of parents to my children, and Justin playing with the kids as he does his own.

I love this family so much. It's funny when I keep the kids they can't thank me enough and I can't thank them enough! I love each of them like my own. And, no matter how many you all are blessed with be they any color of the rainbow, I will love them too! Thank you Justin and Shauna for sharing your lives and love with us.

Girlfriends

A couple friends and I have started getting together for lunch dates. These two women have quickly become dear to me. We all attend church together and they are such wonderful christian women. I love how the Lord works..we are three women who have been drawn together. We each come from different backgrounds and yet have bonded by our faith in the Lord. Philippians 1:3-4 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy. I love you girls!

Christmas fun with Kristin!

My girlfriends daughter Kristin came over this evening. She likes to come and spend time with us which is great because we love her so much! For those of you who do not know..Karol..Kristin's Mom was a patient at the OB/GYN office where I worked in Sacramento. Such a small world! So needless to say Kristin being one of my babies holds a special spot in my heart. While she was here we pulled out the Gingerbread House and Christmas Tree to decorate. While messy it was lots of fun! The girls also took the opportunity to do a paraffin treatment on their hands.

Christmas Decor

I just love this time of the year. My Mom always made it so special all three of us kids grew to be just like Mom. Not having Jeff here we have to make do without lights on the house but we were able to decorate the front door and it turned out nice. Here are a few pictures of our decorations. I hope everyone is having as much with Christmas as we are. God Bless!

Sugar Cookies..YUM!

This afternoon as promised we baked sugar cookies. Here are some pictures of our fun! Merry Christmas!

23 Years

Today would have been mine and Jeff's 23rd Anniversary. I can't help but feel a bit melancholy today. I miss my husband...my best friend. I am so thankful for the nineteen years we did have together. The last four years have been a ride to say the least but, the Lord has been so good to me. I have wonderful family and friends and children that light up my days. Thank you Lord for the time I was able to have with Jeff, for your precious gift of salvation and with it I know I will once again be united with my love someday. The picture is of Jeff and I March 1985...we were just babies!

Spelling Bee

So today was the big spelling bee at school. Each classroom competed a couple weeks ago to see who would go onto today's big show. The girls competed in the group of 4th-6th graders and did great! Grace finished in 5th place out of 15 competitors. She then was routing for Ashton to win it all. Ashton finished in 3rd place! I can't tell you how proud I am of these girls and for that matter all the kids that were incredible today! Way to GO GES!! Here are a couple of pictures of the girls. Notice they were both in dresses today. This is probably the first time this year! They are such little tomboys..we are working on being ladies. Also note..the stains on their knees! Oh well they are still too cute for words!

Sick House

I always look forward to the Thanksgiving Break..this year however I spent the week sick! I have gone from the flu to a cold and just before bedtime last night Grace came down with the flu. So we are snuggled in trying to get well and praying that Jeffrey doesn't come down with the flu although I am not holding my breath. On the up side maybe we can get past all of this now and have a great Christmas Vacation! As for the rest of the week.........I will be disinfecting our house!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Our Thanksgiving Day started out with our traditional orange and cinnamon rolls and watching the Macy's Day Parade. We had a very easy going day which was good as I was still recovering from the flu. Although feeling much better I was still very worn out.

We had a delicious dinner with Ma and Pa and a great visit! The kids loved racing with Grandpa and feeding the cows. The clean up was a breeze this year and we were very thankful for Dad's health this year. He gave us quite a scare with his kidney's not functioning properly a week ago. But, he is on a new diet and feels great!

After Grandma and Grandpa's we went over the The Clem's house and spent a few hours with them visiting and playing cards. They are such a great family and I am really enjoying getting to know Michelle better.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! We all have so much to be thankful for..most importantly that we have a Lord and Savior that offers us eternal life for those that seek him. God Bless you all!

Here are a few pictures of the annual feast at school. Each class decorates their table with a fall craft. It's always a nice time!

What a busy week!

So to update everyone..I just got home Tuesday night after being in Sacramento for a week taking care of my Mom. Happy to say she is doing much better than when I first arrived. She had her staples removed last Friday and is on the road to recovery. It's just not going as fast as she would like. She is so sick and tired of being tired! It was a nice time with the family and the kids had a blast with their cousins!

My Mother in law is doing better also. She had her staples removed on Tuesday and feels much better with them out!

Other news..Parent teacher conferences were last week and Grace is doing awesome! She made the A honor roll and she and her bestest friend Ashton will be participating in the 4th-6th grade spelling bee in December. My competitive daughter is writing out all the words 10 times each or until she gets them down. I am sure she will do great!

My dear Jeffrey is doing super! He can be so sweet and ornery! He is going through a really picky phase right now. One day he likes something and the next not. He was so excited to see his Uncle Daniel..he needs that boy time. They played and cuddled together so darn cute! He told me today that I am the girl of his dreams! How sweet is that? The next minute he was fighting with Grace over something. But, it is those little moments that keep a Mom sane!

First Snow

We are getting ready to leave for Sacramento but I wanted to share this picture. Our first snow of the season! It won't amount to much but the kids love it!

Light Night

Today was a very busy day in the Chrisman household. We started the day at school with the class party and then the school Harvest Fest. We were able to come home for a bit and then it was off to church for Light Night. I love Light Night! It is a great time for the kids and adults. I really enjoyed playing with Lily and visiting with old and new friends. Here are some pictures from our day..Oh and at school John McCain stopped by!LOL

Busy, Crazy Week!

As some of you may know my Mom has been very ill lately with an irritated gallbladder. She has become jaundice and has been in and out of the hospital. Monday on her way to be admitted for surgery she and my sister in law were in a car accident!! Thank the Lord nobody was hurt, sadly Celce's Expedition was totaled.:(

Tuesday night Mom finally had her much needed surgery and what a mess it was. Her gallbladder was so inflamed that it caused a few other problems. She came out of surgery well and other some pain is thrilled to be on the mend. Mind you she is unable to get out of bed on her own as she is still recovering from her Left shoulder surgery and now has an incision on her right side. Please continue to pray for my Mom.

So, Here we are and it's Thursday and I am also asking prayer for my Mother in law! Yep..that's right. This morning while ironing she became lightheaded and just hung up Dad's smock when the light's went out! She passed out and hit her head on the ironing board on the way down! She is at home resting with 10 staples in her head!!

I am thankful both my Mom's are still here with us. Please pray for them as they heal. I would so appreciate it. Remember to get out and vote next week! We need McCain in office and a "YES" on Prop 8! God Bless!

Vote YES on 8

Proposition 8 is simple and straightforward. It contains the same 14 words that were previously approved in 2000 by over 61% of California voters: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”

Because four activist judges in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people’s vote, we need to pass this measure as a constitutional amendment to restore the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman.

Voting YES on Proposition 8 does 3 simple things:

1.) It restores the definition of marriage to what the vast majority of California voters already approved and what Californians agree should be supported, not undermined.

2.) It overturns the outrageous decision of four activist Supreme Court judges who ignored the will of the people.

3.) It protects our children from being taught in public schools that “same-sex marriage” is the same as traditional marriage, and prevents other consequences to Californians who will be forced to not just be tolerant of gay lifestyles, but face mandatory compliance regardless of their personal beliefs.

The smells of Fall

What does four over ripened bananas and a beautiful fall afternoon equal? BANANA BREAD! Grace and I decided to put the banana's to use and bake some yummy bread! It was a hit with the fresh apple cider from our local orchard. Happy Fall!

Fun with Grandma & Grandpa Snooks..a.k.a Sanders

Today Grandma and Grandpa Snooks (that's what the kids call them) came and got the kids and took them to the pumpkin patch and out for ice cream! The kids had a great time and here are the pictures of their afternoon.

Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch!

Well, today we headed to the pumpkin patch with the preschoolers! It was fun and the big excitement was riding the bus! Both Jeffrey and Dawson thought that was pretty cool! Dawson said it was like being in a plane! I must admit I felt sick like I do in a plane!LOL

A seed has been planted

So after services this morning I ended up with the Vaughan's looking at the new construction taking place at church. We are going to have a coffee shop that can be used for fundraisers and such. Justin mentioned that he had asked Debbie (our pastor's wife) who would be running it...she said they didn't have anyone yet. Justin joking with me said he mentioned me! Well, I have to tell..never once did anything like that ever enter my mind. I believe the Lord has other plans though! I have not since that moment been able to get it off of my heart...not my mind but my heart. I don't know where this will lead...I will be praying about it though. I am being stretched yet again! Thank you Lord Jesus!

Apple Fest

We had a great day out at Kidder Creek. The weather was iffy but there were a lot of prayers lifted up this past week due to the storm that was approaching. Short of a couple short showers and some sprinkles the rain gave way to blue skies and sunshine. Many of the kids ended up wading in the pond at some point. The kids had such a great time and we enjoyed the fellowship. For me I shot 200 pictures over the course of the day! Here are a handful of pictures from our day! Enjoy and Happy Fall!

Quiet time

So, I have been doing this bible study with the ladies to church and I have mentioned in another posting how amazing it is. Every week I come away with so much to think and pray about. My God is an AMAZING God! We are working off of five statement pledge of faith...

*God is who He says He is.
*God can do what He says he can do.
*I am who God says I am.
*I can do all things through Christ.
*God's word is alive and active in me.

Today was "believing you are who God says you are". For those that know the Lord, we know that Christ loves us. We sing about it in church and to our kids. You can open your bible and read about his love for us. He sent his son for goodness sakes! But, today Beth Moore put it in a way that I never thought of before. Using Ephesians 1:3-8...
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he[a] predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

and we learned this saying...

"In Love I am Blessed, Chosen, Adopted, Accepted, Redeemed, and Forgiven. I am believing God."

This has set with me all day. I will tell you I am the kind of Mom/person/wife ..there are a lot of us and I learned from the best..we put everyone else first in life. I do sit down with my bible with the kids and I try ever so hard to get alone time with God for myself daily not that it always happens. I am starting to ramble. My point being that today I came away with the reminder that I am who God says I am! I am a child of God! I can do all things through Christ. Lord, I strive to be more like you in all the ways of my heart! You give so much to me Lord, I am recommitting myself to that daily quite time with just me and God. So often we put God in the passenger seat instead of the drivers seat. I am guilty of that! Oh I can handle that Lord!..NOT!! Beth Moore has another saying where she asks God to be BIG in her life. I want that! I need to remember daily maybe several times a day the saying above.

I hope this makes sense. I am just filled with the Lord and His word. Albeit a bit overwhelmed. God Bless!

Fall is in the air!

I have not sat down to post in awhile. So, as I was sitting here...I thought no time like the present!

Cassie has been married three weeks now and the kids and I have gotten into a nice routine. Life is starting to flow again. I love the change in the weather! And, all the colors it brings. I am also doing a bible study with the ladies at church. It is Beth Moore's Believing in God. It is a wonderful study and thought provoking!

I am still waiting on the wedding pictures and as soon as I get them I will post them in a slide show. I have not had the chance to scrap last weekends Balloon Fair but here is a slide show of some of those pictures. Enjoy! Happy Fall Y'All!

Allergies

So, the bridal shower is tomorrow and I have got allergies like no body's business! EEK! We have lived here for 9 1/2 years and now I have allergies! Everyone I have spoken to is in agreement...the smoke is gone and the bees are back and pollinating! I honestly have not had allergies like this since I was a kid to include the swollen eyes. I pray that I am feeling better by tomorrow. Off to put in some eye drops!

Fair Scrapbook

Fair Time!

Well, it 's that time of the year again! The kids have been counting down the days to the fair and yesterday we loaded up and headed to town. This year we had the Budweiser Clydesdale's ..that was a sight and the kids enjoyed watching them not only saddle and hook them up but watching them pull that huge wagon was a sight! Of course the fair wouldn't be the fair without seeing all the animals. The kids love that part and so do I for that matter. Grace bless her heart wants to show next year so we will be looking into 4H. It was at the sheep where we ran into an old RR buddy of Jeff's...Troy it was nice to see him and the kids love talking to someone that knew their Daddy. Grace surprised us by wanting to ride the mechanical bull! She is a brave girl and loved every minute of it! She wanted to go back for more! We all enjoyed watching her!!Another highlight for Grace was the big cat show which was also new for our fair. They had two Bengal tigers and afterward Grace had her picture taken with one. The child loves the big cats! Finally we made our way to the midway and let the kids play a game and hit some rides. Jeffrey loves the little rides and I love watching his cute little face while on them! Before heading out of the fair we bought some promised cotton candy. While the kids were enjoying that I took some pictures of them doing what we all do at the fair...people watch!

Thank you Jesus!

RW called Cassie this morning from a car dealership..he was a man on a mission! The goal was to get his bride into a safe and affordable vehicle. Mission accomplished! He bought Cassie a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, fully loaded. This young man continues to show what a great provider he will be for Cassie. Jeff would be so proud. I know I am! Thank you Lord for such a wonderful, loving, Christian man for Cassie!

Great Commentary from Ben Stein

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary. My confession: I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees.. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are: Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu If people want a crïeche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking. In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.' Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

This is for "Life at MandyLand"

I enjoyed your shaving story about Hayden and thought I would share this picture with you!

After getting a Thomas shaving set Jeffrey became obsessed with learning how shave..mind you what with living with three girls the first thing we told him is that men don't shave their legs and armpits! LOL On one of RW's visit's he took the time to shave with Jeffrey. Of course we wish that Jeff could be here to play but I am thankful to the Lord above that we have RW.

Cleaning Jeffrey's Room

So, today we spent the better part of the day going through Jeffrey's room. The goal is to reorganize and get the train table in his bedroom and out of my front room. Well, I had to call it a day and told him we would finish tomorrow. He then told me with his hand on his head! That he was not just not happy with it waiting another day! Needless to say we will finish tomorrow! I love that he wants it done and likes it clean. Grace was the same way when she was little. Not that she is a slob now but I do have to tell her to clean up her room more often than not.
My kids hate when I am in this mode..I am not fun to be around. I like to get in and get it done and enjoy the finished product. I have about ten days before we have family arriving for the bridal shower and I won't have time to do more than just the daily household chores at that point what with the wedding quickly approaching and we have a family wedding out of town to attend. So, tomorrow I am back to work and the first item on the agenda is to finish my son's room!

RW

The big news in our house is that RW has his ticket and will arrive on August 28th! Cassie is just so excited! We all are! It has been awhile since he has been here and it will be nice to have some time with him before the wedding. He is an incredible young man. A true gift from God!

Prop 8

ProtectMarriage.comProtectMarriage.com, is a broad-based coalition of California families, community leaders, religious leaders, pro-family organizations and individuals from all walks of life who have joined together to support Proposition 8. Over 1.1 million Californians signed petitions to place Proposition 8 on the ballot, and over 4.3 million voters already passed the very same language included in Proposition 8 as Proposition 22 in 2000. To add your name to our growing coalition and list of supporters, click here.Proposition 8Proposition 8 is simple and straightforward. It contains the same 14 words that were previously approved in 2000 by over 61% of California voters: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” Because four activist judges in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people’s vote, we need to pass this measure as a constitutional amendment to restore the definition of marriage as between a man and a woman. Voting YES on Proposition 8 does 3 simple things:
It restores the definition of marriage to what the vast majority of California voters already approved and what Californians agree should be supported, not undermined.
It overturns the outrageous decision of four activist Supreme Court judges who ignored the will of the people.
It protects our children from being taught in public schools that “same-sex marriage” is the same as traditional marriage.
The IssueCalifornia voters passed Proposition 22 in 2000 by more than 61%, saying that a marriage in California is between a man and a woman. Earlier this year, four activist judges based in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people's vote, legalizing same-sex marriage.
The Consequences
The Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage did not just overturn the will of California voters; it also redefined marriage for the rest of society, without ever asking the people themselves to accept this decision. This decision has far-reaching consequences. For example, because public schools are already required to teach the role of marriage in society as part of the curriculum, schools will now be required to teach students that gay marriage is the same as traditional marriage, starting with kindergarteners. By saying that a marriage is between “any two persons” rather than between a man and a woman, the Court decision has opened the door to any kind of “marriage.” This undermines the value of marriage altogether at a time when we should be restoring marriage, not undermining it.
The Solution
Vote YES on Proposition 8 to overturn the outrageous Supreme Court decision and restore the definition of marriage that was approved by over 61% of voters. Proposition 8 is NOT an attack on gay couples and does not take away the rights that same-sex couples already have under California’s domestic partner law. California law already grants domestic partners all the rights that a state can grant to a married couple. Gays have a right to their private lives, but not to change the definition of marriage for everyone else.
Passing Proposition 8 protects our children and places into the Constitution the simple definition that a marriage is between a man and a woman.

Counting Down

So, we are now 35 days from the wedding and only 13 from the Bridal Shower! I have turned my house upside down and inside out cleaning and reorganizing. I can't wait until I have everything back to where it belongs. My Mom, sister in law and two niece's will be staying with us over the bridal shower weekend. I am really looking forward to that..just girl time! The goal tomorrow is to get the kids rooms finished and paint Bub's headboard. He wants it blue! We have turned Grace's room into a jungle and his only request is a blue headboard. Easy enough to take care of!

We still have replies coming in. Still have many more out there. But, I have sent emails and made phone calls and the list is coming along. We are going to be busy the next couple of weeks but look forward to all the fun ahead of us.
